The Vermillion Rotary Club was fortunate to hear a wonderful presentation on the blizzard of 1888 from Tim Waltner, an award-winning journalist and former publisher of the Freeman Courier.  Waltner's presentation set the larger context by describing the immigration patterns into the northern plains, especially into South Dakota. Following that he provides an intriguing step-by-step retelling of events leading up to, during, and following the January 12, 1888 blizzard that struck the upper plains.
