Frank Melvin (Bud) Marshall, 87, passed away on May 8, 2013, in Sanford Hospice Care in Vermillion, SD.
Bud was born on August 2, 1925, in Astoria OR.

After the war, he attended Washington State College in Pullman, WA. In 1948, he transferred to Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA, when he married Jean Lucas Auld on August 7, 1948. At Whitman, he was initiated into Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and graduated in 1950 with a degree in Business Administration and Economics.

In 1994 Jean and Bud retired and moved to Vermillion, where they became active in their new community. Bud served on the Dakota Hospital Board of Directors, was President of the Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow, a member of the American Legion, the Clay County Republicans, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, a 32nd degree Mason and a Mason for over 50 years.

He oversaw the construction of St. Paul’s new parish hall and through Rotary, headed up the committee to restore wheel chairs for Hope Haven. With Hope Haven teams, he flew to Romania and Viet Nam to distribute refurbished wheel chairs to those in need.
He and Jean traveled to Spain, Hong Kong, Thailand, and spent two weeks in Scotland for the Rotary International convention in 1997. After Eastern Europe was opened, he traveled by train through Austria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Russia.
